Chetan Bhagat is the author of three blockbuster novels; Five Point Someone (2004), One Night At Call Center (2005) and Three Mistakes Of My Life (2008). His novel 2 STATES also remained the best seller. The New York Times called Chetan “The biggest selling English language novelist in India’s history.” Here, we find love shining amidst darkness and despair. Shakespeare once said “The path of true love never runs smooth” and this is very true in the case of KRISH and ANANYA…

When the novel opens, we find Krish in a psychologist’s clinic to get counseling and here he narrates his story. Here we are introduced with the campus life of IIM, Ahmadabad, where Krish sees Ananya and fall in love at first sight as in looks, she is real traffic stopper. But Ananya want to be just friend with Krish.

“Why would any guy want to be only friends with a girl?
It’s like agreeing to be near a chocolate cake and never eat it
It’s like sitting in a racing car but not driving it only wimps do that”

Ananya is a bold girl. Any ways they become friends. The friendship between both of them develops very fast. Krish helps Ananya in studies. They started living in same room.

In college they start messaging each other and start hanging out. Tome passes speedily. Placement time comes. Both are offered good jobs. Both of them invite their parents at the placement. Here, we are introduced with Krish’s mother and Ananya’s parents. Krish and Krish’s father don’t have good relations. At the placement time Krish’s mother and Ananya’s mother relation goes bad.

After placement, Krish’s mother wants Krish to take job in Delhi and wants to marry a girl of his choice. She says “I can show you punjabi girls as fair as milk.” But Krish takes job in Chennai. Here Krish has to suffer a lot to work in new environment. Krish tries to convince Ananya’s family for marriage but all attempts failed. Krish does many things, works for the family of Ananya.

Krish wanted his father to go to the professor whose daughter’s affair with Krish and wants to set the situation right. Here Krish lost his temper with his father. But Krish did not lose hope and carries on his attempts to win the love of Ananya’s family members. In a concert, Ananya’s mother talent in music is appreciated by all and she becomes the center of attraction in that concert. Then Krish arranges a dinner party for Ananya’s family. Here he proposes to accept him as their son in law. This proposal was very heat touching. I, Krish want you all marry with me. He finally wins the consent of all the members of Ananya’s family and now Ananya’s turn to win love of Krish’s family members. Ananya’s also wins the heart of Krish’s family but what about family’s union?

Krish arranges meeting of two families in Goa, but there also Krish’s mother misbehaves and the relationship of both is in danger. Ananya decides to break up with Krish and Krish tries to convince it will be fixed up again. But Ananya does not respond. At that time Krish’s bad father tries to convince Ananya’s family and every thing is been set up. And suddenly Krish gets call from Ananya and at that moment Krish wants to hug his father because father-son relation is always incredible.

Finally two families are re-united and both get married to each other. This marriage ceremony held in Tamil style. The love marriages around the world are simple but as back the scenario is all different when it comes to India.
