Science of Life: Yoga, Ayurveda & Spirituality

Meditation for Better Life

If you talk about meditation among the people, they start thinking that meditation is an ancient and out-dated concept. In this highly materialistic world, people, especially young generation has not an ability to understand the term ‘Meditation’. They are deeply absorbed in the worldly affairs and that’s why they miss the most charming and precious thing, i.e.: Meditation. Meditation is observed with plenty of dimensions. It has both the psychological as well as spiritual aspects. If we take meditation in psychological context, there are many advantages of meditation. Meditation reduces stress or tension. If a person feels any kind of tension and meditates, he will immediately be carried away from that tension and mentally be relaxed. Meditation also sharpens our memory. The main advantage of meditation is that it helps us to enhance our concentration power. So, from the psychological point of view, meditation is a process of getting rid of stress. In another way it is considered as “the greatest remedy of relaxation”. On the other hand, meditation is considered as the spiritual concept. Meditation is the key to open the door of our inner soul. The more you meditate, the nearer you are to God. Person can experience the supreme joy (Parmanand - God) that lies inside us. In scriptures, it is also written that the God lies in each human being.  Human being has to just experience the God. Meditation deals with the breathing process. Each breath is divine bliss, gifted by the almighty. The God touches us through each and every breath that we breathe. So we should not waste even single breath. Meditation is the easiest way of realising or attaining God, rather than worshipping in materialistic manner.

Finally, I would like to say that we have twenty-four hours a day. So, we should regularly spend at least an hour for meditation from our busy schedule through out the entire day.
